My PhD project is titled: "Structural development and metallogenesis of Paleoproterozoic volcano-sedimentary rocks of the Rombak Tectonic Window, Northern Norway". I am a student at the University of Tromsø in Northern Norway and my project is sponsored by the Geological Survey of Norway with supervision of Iain Henderson (Geological Survey of Norway), Steffen Bergh (University of Tromsø) and Krister Sundblad (University of Tromsø).
I am working on a newly discovered regional scale ductile Proterozoic shearzone in Northern Norway. Several, already known, sulphide mineralization occur along the shearzone and show great coherence with the structures. I will establish a detailed structural model for the area and try to link the sulphide mineralization to the deformation path of the shearzones.
I am in Australia for 10 months as a visitor to join the Rover project in the Northern Territory, supervised by Leon Bagas. This project will be a supplementary study for my PhD project and can possibly be used for comparison. My aim for my stay in Australia is to widen my knowledge of structural related deposits, establish a future collaboration network, work in a large group environment with similar interests and see as much geology as I can.
I finished my master project at the University of Tromsø and the University Centre of Svalbard, where my main focus was on structural geology, thin-skinned tectonic and fluid flow. I worked part time as a geology assistant for Spitsbergen coal mine and then later full time as an exploration geologist until I got the opportunity to do this PhD study.
