Collaboration at the CET is designed and evaluated in terms of the CET’s strategic direction, specifically, to enhance the CET objectives. With a sustainable research business of team-orientated individuals effectively engaging with the minerals industry and engaging with thought leaders globally, setting up collaborative agreements that deliver outputs recognized and respected at high academic and industry levels.
A key goal of the CET is to have industry embrace research and development (R&D) as a fundamental part of their business model. Corporate members are continually showing an interest in engaging directly with the CET Research Team through various mechanisms, including attendance of our Short Courses, other CET Training, or funding staff positions. In other industry forums, CET staff have been active in providing keynote and invited presentations as well as papers into industry-ranked journals.
Central to the success of the CET is the engagement of the CET Board, its committees and the CET External Advisory Group. Members of these committees are nominated from Industry and other collaborative partners.
The primary objective of the CET External Advisory Group (EAG) is to provide advice to the CET Board and management team on technical matters. An important aspect of this role is to ensure that the needs of the mineral exploration industry are being appropriately met by the CET research strategies. The EAG is well positioned to represent industry views as its membership included a number of senior industry representatives who have been chosen to ensure coverage of all of the technical sub-disciplines relevant to mineral exploration. To provide a balanced perspective, the membership also include representatives of the CSIRO and the Geological Survey of Western Australia, together with the CET Director, Professor Cam McCuaig.
