Collaboration at the CET is designed and evaluated in terms of the CET’s strategic direction, specifically, to enhance the CET objectives. Collaborative agreements are focused on building on the strengths the institutions concerned; and take advantage of opportunities in the environments facing those institutions.
There are always a high degree of commonality/complementary of purpose, shared values, and cordial relations, between collaborative partners. Mutual benefits to the participating institutions outweighing any
costs that are involved; however, there are always a willingness to commit resources in order to secure identified benefits.
Collaboration with other universities enhances the competitiveness of both the institutions in their operating environments; and collaboration is focused on activities where there are comparative strategic advantages and thus there is no need not to be exclusive with any one institution.
A recent CET collaboration is the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Core to Crust Fluid Systems between Macquarie University, Curtin University of Technology, University of Western Australia and Geological Survey of Western Australia.
