CET involved in Saudi Arabian Mineral Taxation Review
Jan 20, 2020
Research Professor Pietro Guj has been engaged by the World Bank Group to carry out a review and provide advise on proposed amendments to the Saudi Arabian Mining Investment Legislation with special emphasis on their severance (royalty) fees.
This assignment will involve the construction of the financial model for two typical mining projects to be used for sensitivity analysis and simulation of the possible impacts of various royalty systems on the financial performance of the projects and the resultant government-industry revenue splits under uncertain commodity prices. This will ensure that any policy decision in terms of the royalty system to be chosen is based on sound quantitative information and therefore unlikely to be excessively onerous and discouraging mining investment and robust under a range of possible commodity prices scenarios.
