Tectonic evolution and gold mineralisation Southern Cross district

Southern Cross, Western Australia

The primary objective of this study is to develop a superior tectono-metamorphic model to capture the geological evolution of the gold-endowed Youanmi Terrane in the Yilgarn Craton of Western Australia.

The Archean (i.e. > 2,500 million years ago) greenstone belts and adjacent granitoids are a key to unravelling the crustal evolution of the Early Earth and understand the formation of gold deposits. This project will generate an improved metallogenic model to target areas of high prospectivity for gold mineralisation.
