In March 2020 Nishka Piechocka joined CET as part time Postdoctoral Research Associate working on MRIWA Project M0557: Landscape evolution and weathering history of the Pilbara and relationship to genesis and mineralisation of Martite – Goethite Ores in the Hamersley Province (WA). 

Nishka completed her PhD in 2019 at Curtin University of Technology. The thesis is titled: The tectonothermal evolution of the Gascoyne Province and its role in Proterozoic Australia.

Prior to the PhD Nishka worked as an Exploration Project Geologist for 8 years for Rio Tino Iron Ore and BHP Iron generating new targets and exploring for new iron ore deposits in the Hamersley Basin.

Research interests:

3D Geological modelling, Geochronology (SHRIMP and 40Ar/39Ar), Proterozoic geology, Tectonics, Banded Iron Formation-hosted Fe, Mineral exploration and targeting
