Personal Profile

Research Output / Publications

Tom Horrocks joined the CET in May 2013 as a part-time research assistant, having recently graduated from UWA with Bachelor degrees in Science (Physics, Applied Mathematics) and Engineering (Software). He completed his engineering honours dissertation on lithology classification and well log correlation under the supervision of A/Prof Eun-Jung Holden and Asst/Prof Daniel Wedge.

Tom is interested in machine learning and data-driven modelling, and has recently used cost-sensitive machine learning algorithms for automated gold ore sorting. In industry he works as a software engineer, more often than not in the mining domain. Tom’s hobbies include basketball, gaming, and doing neat things in Mathematica.
