My name is Marcelo Godefroy Rodríguez and I was born and raised in Mexico City. In 2015 I moved to Perth in order to continue with my postgraduate studies at the University of Western Australia. I have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering from the National University of Mexico in 2010 and a Master Degree from the University of Western Australia in 2015.

After graduation from my Bachelor, I had the opportunity to work in Colombia and Panama by conducting field exploration in order to indicate potential gold and copper resources. My second industry experiences involved target concessions that could hold potential for gold and silver mineralisation in the Sierra Madre Occidental and the Mexican Altiplano. Finally, I worked in a detailed exploration program that concluded in the discovery of the Media Luna gold Skarn deposit within the Guerrero Gold Belt.

After these years of accumulated industry experience I decided to turn over my career and have an insight in to the Archean geology of gold deposits by completing a Master at the Centre of Exploration Targeting. In order to do so, I conducted research on the Mass Independent Sulphur signature of the giant Golden Mile deposit in the Yilgarn Craton. This research integrates stable multiple sulphur isotopes analysis along with a detailed paragenetic frame of all the mineralisation styles of the Golden Mile deposit.

Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the Centre of Exploration Targeting within the University of Western Australia. And I am conducting research for defining isotopic gradients related with gold mineralisation in the Kundana and Golden Mile deposits of the Kalgoorlie Terrane in Western Australia. The purpose of this research project is twofold. On the one hand the objective will be to understand the evolution of the hydrothermal fluids responsible for gold formation through the use of various geochemical techniques (SRHIMP, SIMS, LA-ICP-MS, etc.) and on the other hand to use stable isotopes as a targeting tool for gold mineralisation in Archean terranes.
