Chris received his PhD from the Memorial University of Newfoundland where he worked on laser ablation ICMPS method development of a wide range of accessory minerals and their application to granitic magmatism. Since that time he has continued to focus on the use of a wide range of accessory minerals that provide important geologic constraints from U-Pb geochronology, tracer isotopic systematics (Sm-Nd, Lu-Hf, Rb-Sr), and trace element contents.  He is currently applying these techniques to understand the origin and evolution of the very oldest Archean complexes, including southern West Greenland, the Acasta Gneiss complex, as well as Eoarchean rocks in northeast Labrador.
