Ahmad joined the CET in May 2016 commencing work on a PhD as part of the Progressive Risk & Value team. The overarching aim of the project is to investigate how the mining industry carries out financial valuations on projects at different scales, with a particular focus being to understand and better determine upside potential in projects. Primary supervision will be provided by Allan Trench and Eun-Jung Holden with co-supervision by Cam McCuaigRichard Schodde and Jon Hronsky

Ahmad has a Bachelor’s of Science (BSc) degree from Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada), during which he completed his Honours project at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) as part of an international exchange. For the last 10 years, he worked as an exploration geologist focusing largely on base metal exploration in Australia, Asia and Africa. His experience includes working on a wide range of projects, from project generation and early-stage greenfields projects to brownfields/near-mine and resource drilling programs. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (MAIG), Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM) and Society of Economic Geologists (SEG).
