QGIS for Exploration Geologists Flyer
From Data Visualisation and Field Collection to Management and Geological Modelling.
Invited: Exploration Geologists and Students with previous QGIS experience.
Content: An introduction to standard and custom QGIS-based tools useful for geodata import, digital field data collection and management and structural modelling implemented in the framework of collaborative projects involving UWA. The course comprises practicals for each of these tools.
Expert speakers: Julien Perret, Mark W. Jessell, Michel Nzikou Mamboukou.
Technical requirements:
– Bring your own own PC or Mac laptop AND an Android or iOS mobile device with a large enough screen and long-lasting battery to comfortably view and collect field data (smartphone or tablet), along with chargers.
– Install QGIS software on your laptop and the QField app on Android/iOS mobile devices from the Google Play or the App Store. The convenors will confirm what versions should be installed by early June.
– Ensure your mobile device is powerful enough to run QField smoothly. We encourage attendees to test the default QField projects after installing the app.
– Attendees should bring their own datasets to be used as training/demo materials. Time will be allocated to demonstrate QGIS tools using these datasets.
