About
Celina completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) at the University of Adelaide in 2019 with a double major in Geology, and Geophysics and Applied Geology. Her honours project was analysing compositional controls on thermal conductivity of metamorphic rocks to assist with determining heat flow within the mantle. Celina then joined BHP as a graduate geologist in Western Australia Iron Ore gaining experience across mine and exploration geology. At the start of 2023, she moved to BHP Nickel West as an exploration geologist. Over her time at BHP, she has gained experience managing RC and diamond drill rigs, structural mapping campaigns, modelling deposits and investigating potential targets to extend mine life.
PhD Project
Celina has now joined the Centre for Exploration Targeting at the University of Western Australia as a PhD candidate, while still working part-time at BHP. Her research is part of the Yilgarn 2030 project and is under the supervision of Dr Isra Ezad, Professor Steffen Hagemann and Dr Walter Witt. The research will involve analysing calc-alkaline lamprophyres and how they contribute to formation and mobilisation of Au-PGE and base metal deposits.
