About
Farid Ullah completed his Bachelor of Science in Geology at the University of Sargodha, Pakistan, followed by a Master’s degree in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering at Central South University, China, where his thesis focused on integrated geophysical exploration of a Cu-polymetallic deposit in Nanjing. During his master’s studies, he gained extensive hands-on experience in geophysical field surveys across China and Pakistan, including Magnetotelluric (MT), Audio-frequency Magnetotelluric (AMT), Transient Electromagnetic (TEM), Spread Spectrum Induced Polarization (SSIP), gravity, and magnetic methods.
PhD Project
Farid has joined the Centre for Exploration Targeting at the University of Western Australia as a PhD candidate, under the supervision of Professor Mark Jessell, Dr Vitaliy Ogarko, and Dr Jeremie Giraud. His research focuses on integrating Magnetotelluric (MT) methods into the Tomofast-x inversion framework, with the aim of applying geologically constrained MT inversion to mineral exploration in Western Australia. Specifically, his work explores the application of structural and petrophysical constraints to MT inversion using real datasets from the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA), building on Tomofast-x’s existing capabilities in joint and constrained inversion.
