About
Nusrat Jahan Shimu completed her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Following her studies, she joined the Department of Oceanography at the University of Dhaka as a lecturer and later became an Assistant Professor. She has led several nationally funded research projects and has experience in field investigations, environmental data analysis, and interdisciplinary Earth science research.
PhD Project
Nusrat has joined the Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET) at The University of Western Australia as a PhD candidate in May 2026. Her research focuses on developing advanced workflows for data integration in geometrical inversion and model space exploration. Using the Tomofast-x inversion platform and real datasets, her research investigates approaches for incorporating multiple data sources, and geological constraints, to generate more realistic subsurface models. The outcomes of the project will contribute to improved subsurface interpretation and support more informed decision-making in mineral exploration.
