About
Rachel possesses extensive experience as an Exploration Project Geologist at AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. During her tenure, she spearheaded a project utilising portable XRF data to acquire comprehensive multi-element data across multiple ore bodies within the mine. Rachel dedicated over five years to her role at Sunrise Dam, where she effectively managed the core yard, supervised junior staff, oversaw drill rig operations, and interpreted intricate geological data.
Rachel holds a BA(Hons) and MSci in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, where she specialised in geological sciences and conducted research on vesiculation and magma mixing at the Soufrière Hills Volcano in Montserrat.
PhD Project
Rachel Jones is pursuing a PhD in Earth Sciences at the University of Western Australia under the supervision of Dr Isra Ezad and Prof Marco Fiorentini. Her research investigates hydrous mantle assemblages enriched in metals like Cu, Ni, Co, Cr, and PGEs, aiming to explore their role in the formation of various mineral systems and expand exploration opportunities. Rachels’s work will contribute to a deeper understanding of mantle processes, potentially revealing new exploration targets for critical metals.
