About

Lucas completed his undergraduate degree at the Australian National University where his research projects culminated in a JGS article on the Pb-isotope distribution of Nolans Bore—a carbonatite-related “antiskarn” in the Northern Territory, Australia. He worked in the geochronology team at Geoscience Australia during his undergrad before completing his Honours project which centred around mathematically modelling the petrogenetic evolution of porphyry copper-gold systems using rare earth element patterns. Lucas then joined Dreadnought Resources as an exploration geologist and was part of the discovery team for several carbonatite REE deposits in the Gifford Creek Carbonatite Complex.

Lucas joined the CET in February 2023 under the supervision of Marco Fiorentini and Tony Kemp. His research interests centre around the genesis and internal systematics of carbonatites and the methods in which more carbonatites can be discovered. He is researching a fascinating carbonatite complex in southern Morocco.
