About

Tasman completed a Bachelor of Science at Macquarie University in  2014, with a dual major in Geology and Geophysics. He then worked for a few different exploration companies becoming familiar with typical IP and gravity acquisition. He returned to Macquarie in 2015 to complete a Masters of Research in order to gain a better understanding of geophysical data processing. During his Masters he also studied rheology, advanced geophysical theory, a self guided unit on drone geophysical viability, and a individual course focused on fluid dynamics guided by Prof Juan Carlos Afonso.

During his research project Tasman also Co-chaired the 2017 GESSS-NSW committee as well as becoming team leader on Team Macquarie’s entry to the 2017 Frank Arnott Award, which placed third. The Frank Arnott Award  gave Tasman the opportunity to work with David Pratt of Tensor research and Bruce Dixon on Self Organising Maps which is a valuable techniques useful for visualising multivariate data. This would serve as his foray into machine learning techniques. Upon learning of the Geo-Data Algorithms, he joined the Centre of Exploration Targeting to pursue a PhD under the supervision of Prof Eun-Jun Holden, Dr Daniel Wedge, and Dr Tom Horrocks to broaden his understanding of how machine learning techniques can be applied to geoscientific data
