Yilgarn 2030

The Yilgarn Craton, despite limited surface exposure, provides a rich repository of physical and chemical data due to extensive mineral exploration, government-led acquisition of pre-competitive geoscientific data, and academic research. This study follows the Yilgarn 2020 project, which produced new datasets to support mineral exploration in the Yilgarn.

Aims:

• Achieve significant breakthroughs in mineral resource discovery performance across the Yilgarn Craton.
• Train future geoscientists and address critical skills shortages.
• Strengthen collaborative research for exploration strategies.

Modules:

• Lithospheric Architecture: Map 4D structures and plumbing systems.
• Timing: Define temporal framework of gold mineralisation.
• Magmas: Assess alkalic/calc-alkalic magmas and alteration footprints.
• Footprints: Identify distal indicators and vectors to high-grade gold deposits.
