The fifth symposium of the IGCP638 on the geodynamics and mineralization of the West African Craton (WAC), will take place on December 4th- 9th, 2022 in Accra Ghana.
The International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) serves as a knowledge hub of UNESCO to facilitate international scientific cooperation in geosciences. The IGCP mission includes promoting sustainable use of natural resources, and advancing new initiatives related to geo-diversity and geoheritage and geohazard risk mitigation. The symposium will be jointly organized by the local organizing committee and the members of the West African Exploration Initiative (WAXI). It will join the international scientific community (academia and industry) on the topic: “Geology of the Paleoproterozoic formations for a sustainable development”.

The symposium will be in two parts.
The event will proceed as follows:

Two (2) days of conference in Accra followed by (ii) three (3) days of field trips.

The sets of themes of the conference will relate to geodynamics, mineralization, geochemistry, geochronology, geophysics, mapping, lithology, sedimentology, imagery, environment (pollution and deforestation related to mines), climate change, and other related subjects.

The deadline for registration and abstract submission is extended till Sept. 30, 2022
