About
Elina was born and raised in Macau, a city and special administrative region in China that has limited geology. She started her geology journey by completing a Bachelor of Science in geology in 2021 in UWA without knowing what geology is at the first start. In the following year, under the supervision of Marco Fiorentini, Robert Loucks and Chris Fisher, she undertook an Honours project that revolved around an ARC linkage project aiming to constrain the genesis of gold-fertile magma in highly potassic alkaline magmatic system with a case study in the northwestern US. The outstanding achievement on this project has awarded her with the 2022 GSA Ross Medal. Elina started her PhD in April 2023 under the supervision of Tony Kemp, Marco Fiorentini, Robert Loucks and Chris Fisher. Her PhD project aims to constrain the source composition and petrogenetic evolution of S-type granites and their association to Cu, Sn and W mineralisation in the Lachlan Fold Belt in eastern Australia. The outcome will inform whether S-type granite is associated with long-term crustal growth or crustal reworking and will refine the petrogenetic footprint of granite-related mineralisation
PhD Project
